tonight's the night

or so neil young tells me. anyway, tonight's the night for whatever you want it to be. for example, i declared yesterday the day of the expanding man. i guess all you really need is a classic rock reference of some type. there are few things i enjoy as much, and i couldn't really tell you why. a girl mentioned her appreciation for a wild horses reference i made, and that really made my day, for no good reason. i also found out that there are hippopotamuses at the camden aquarium, hello to-do list. i don't think i've ever even seen a hippo in real life, and for some reason they hold an immense appeal. i plan to conduct requisite testing as to any possible ultraviolet properties or responses to uv light of said hippos. keep your eyes on the most reputable of scholarly science journals for the full report sometime next year.
sorry about the lack of weekend updating, no good excuse there, but at least i got some work done this weekend. i am hoping that i have worked out a good reading/briefing routine where i stay one day ahead on the reading and review and brief the day before the material will allegedly be covered. even if we don't make it there, i'm at least ahead of the game with something to refer to for solid review before the class starts. i am doing my best to engage the material but i still find it difficult to gauge what tack any prof will take with regards to it. this is the blessing and the curse of legal study: one case has innumerable aspects which can be focused upon, and the relationships between cases are multifarious and multiply upon one another. also feeling like i have some sort of financial responsibility plan starting to work out. i get lunch at the trucks on my four school days (cheesesteaks and gyros! hooray!) and otherwise subsist on peanut butter and pabst for the most part. although pabst consumption is down, it was mostly there for alliterative purposes. i could have thrown in potato chips too i guess. but pabst outside of case/30 pack form isn't really much cheaper than beck's and yuengling, with all three potentially occupying the buck a beer bracket depending on form purchased. the thing is, for a proverbial few dollars more i could be drinking micros, i just have to be willing to lug a case six blocks, which i should really do i guess. i'm actually tiring of beck's, but the 4 for 5 pints that i always refer to have an undeniable appeal to them. 16 oz. is the perfect size for a beer, those brits knew what they were up to on that, even if it is the only non-metric unit that makes any sense, and they forgot what good beer is. except these guys all of a sudden remembered. check out their semi-external pages about ipa and porter - and here i thought i knew something about those beers and their history! i don't know about you but the mention of the need for someone to dedicate a lifetime of research to honorably and authentically reconstruct the development of porter got me thinking about vocation in a big was. and responcable development.
at this point, i really wish i had possession of that damn sign; i have a perfect space above the record player for it. other than that, i finally put the room together in a serious way. only problem is no rug. i inherited one but the room downstairs is hardwood and up here is carpeted, so the rug is otherwise occupied tying the downstairs room together, or should be anyway. but bowling nixon's up, the romanian face thing is up, the big map is up (hell yeah i'm still excited about that map), and jerry is up. all the records and books are in this great shelving sort of thing and... i wish i just had a damn camera phone, then you could just look. anyway, i'm pleased with it, best room i've ever had the chance to occupy. has the feel of the auburn porch in the tree-house kind of way, but without the tree growing in and an actual room instead of a tilted-ass skinny three-seasons porch/balcony thing. i just wish it was that close to mulligans.
